After not-the-most-productive and slightly frustrating of days, I wasn’t sure if I deserved to join the crew for my second week doing the London Friday Night Skate. Even after getting back home and clocking in my run of the day, I was uncertain. Literally a few minutes after I should have left the thought struck – how many opportunities in my life will I get to blaze down roads with hundreds around me? Best decision of the day. This weekend has been one of many ‘firsts’. You see, 3 years living in London and I had yet to have seen a live performance in the West End! To be fair, my first ever experience of the cinema had been there after getting lost on Guy Fawkes Night in 1st year and ending up watching John Wick 2 on a huge super-screen. But tonight, we landed some fantastic tickets for an absolute bargain and off we were to Duke of York’s Theatre. After zig-zagging through an overflowing Covent Garden (it was Pride Parade this afternoon!), we finally reached the decadent theater with its winding stairs and plush carpeting. Sneaky…

When I was something like 8 years old, my parents bought me my first pair of skates and enough safety gear to send me into a volcano. Many skinned knees later, I still live for the thrill of flying down the roads with the probability that an unseen pebble can throw me off. In the first year of uni, my dorms were about a 20mins walk away from the lecture halls and not soon after, a care package from home arrived with my skates. That 25mins stroll became a 7mins zoom down the bicycle lane, saving many 9am lectures. But I was yet to discover the skating culture in London…
