Four Years of Maths
I chose to study maths at university without having the faintest idea of what that meant. And after four years of studying it, I have even less of an idea! We all ended up in the melting pot that is London, studying a course which had no Lecturecast or TurnItIn – we might as well have been studying in the previous century! But with just a few scribbles across a whiteboard (or chalk if you were lucky!), I learnt some of the most beautiful of abstract concepts from the most incredible of minds. Roaming around London (and Paris) To say its been a smooth ride is a lie. I faltered…

The Brick Lane Market
This reading week has become more of a writing one! As I write another blog post after sending a draft of my research project (dedicated post for that coming up) to my supervisor and start planning out my personal statement – quite a bit of writing for me! Living in East London for over a year now, I realised I still hadn’t taken sis around the Brick Lane and Shoreditch area – hipster London. So, slightly under the weather, we took a short bus to Whitechapel and walked a winding route to Brick Lane. Super nostalgic as I remember coming in my first year with my then new friends –…

The One Young World Summit #OYWS19
What happens when you bring together over 2000 young leaders from every country in the world? The One Young World Summit is one of the most inspiring gathering of youth from all over the globe who have collectively made a positive impact in the lives of over 20 million people. At it’s 10th anniversary, the summit returned to it’s inaugural city of London; the world’s melting pot. The summit is catalysed by the global leaders that champion it as counsellors like the 7th Secretary General of the UN Kofi Annan, Nobel Peace Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus and even the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle. I was lucky enough to attend…

The Return to Insta (& other news)
I am backed up with blog posting so here comes a bunch of disconnected tales at full speed – a short story compilation if you may: A Fishy Experience Many of my foodie posts have been quite sophisticated dishes but that is actually not as often as you may imagine. A blistering hot day in Madinah and having had red meat consecutively for too many days, we went to a fish place for lunch. Now this is no any ordinary place, the shop is located in a major street selling pretty much the same thing! The way it works is you pick out a fresh fish from the freezer, often…

Return to the Land of Sand
Saying “it’s hot” in London (or anywhere in Europe, actually) can never compare to a Jeddah summer. Never to disappoint, Jeddah was a balmy 35 with the sun having not even risen completely as I walked down the steps from the plane. But wait, let’s rewind a bit! Anticipating the weekend too early, I had a lie in on Friday and went out for a run first thing. As the adrenaline slowed down and hunger began to growl, I was already close to Euston where I was meeting my friend for lunch. After talking about halwa with him in Vienna, I had promised that we would go for a proper…
